The muon is the 200 times heavier brother of the electron.
Because of its relatively long (2.2 microsec)
lifetime it is the most penetrative charged particle and so
the favourite messenger of new physical phenomena of
present-day particle physics. The present lecture will be
devoted to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon: its
measurement, calculation, and the difference between them,
which could be a sign of physics beyond the standard model.
