Description
The 2012 discovery of the Higgs boson at CERN puts stringent constraints on possible extensions of the Standard Model. A large class of models, strongly interacting gauge theories in which the electro weak phase transition is realized as spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking and the Higgs boson is a composite particle, are potentially viable candidates. A light composite Higgs does seem to emerge if the theory is chosen to be close to the conformal window. We'll discuss general features of the conformal window for fundamental fermions and discuss more details about a specific model, SU(3) with 2 flavors of sextet fermions, and list detailed predictions for Run 2 of the LHC, one of which is a vector particle with mass around 2 TeV. All presented results were obtained from lattice simulations.
